Alcyomics new Atopic Dermatitis model

July 5, 2022

Skimune AD

Skimune® AD is a human explant model which is induced to express an Atopic Dermatitis (AD) phenotype though co-culture with autologous immune cells and an inflammatory cytokine cocktail. Markers for AD phenotypes such as Filaggrin and Thymic stromal lymphopoietin (TSLP) are lowered and raised respectively in Skimune® AD similarly to that seen in clinical patient samples. These biomarkers can be quantified through ELISA to demonstrate significant differences between stimulated tissues and unstimulated controls. Application of standard AD therapeutics such as hydrocortisone is able to reverse the AD phenotype. As such Skimune®  AD is a powerful tool for AD research.
